Breast Pump Reviews

Hi, thanks for visiting breast-pump-reviews.com.

So that you can fully benefit from this website, I would like to explain a few things about my Breast Pump reviews website.

I think its important to mention that I breast pumped full-time for both of my children. That is 2 1/2 years of breast pumping; in fact, my husband did the calculations, and I breast pumped over 5,000+ times. Was it all worth it? Absolutely!

When I first began breast pumping, I considered and used many different kinds of breast pumps to find the one that worked well and properly expressed my breast milk. It was quite stressful trying to find the best breast pump for me.

I heard so many conflicting views on which breast pump is best. I attempted to find good, accurate Breast Pump reviews online with little success. Eventually, I did find a breast pump that worked for me but not without a ton of stress and having to spend too much money.

The breast pump that works well for one woman won’t necessarily work well for another woman. While one woman may be exclusively breast pumping and need a certain type of pump, another will only breast pump occasionally and need an entirely different breast pump. For this reason, it is important for a woman to understand the uses of each breast pump before purchasing.

It is my desire to save you the headache and expense by giving you the information that you need through this site, Medela Breast Pump reviews, so that you can make an informed decision.

The first thing that you should look at is the breast pump ratings at the top of this main page. Here you will see which breast pumps are most poplar among women who are using each of the listed breast pumps. Just click on the links to learn more about each type of Breast Pump and also rate the breast pumps yourself. Your rating helps other women know which breast pump is best.

If you are interested in my personal favorite breast pumps then click on the link on the right entitled, “Breast Pump Reviews: My Favorites” located in the “Breast Pumps” category.

If you would like to purchase one of the breast pumps that I mention or would simply like further information about a product, feel free to visit my Breast Pump reviews online store. The breast pump store will give you up to date pricing on each breast pump and information about what’s currently available.

As you read through each review article on this Breast Pump Reviews website, you will notice links scattered throughout. By clicking on these links, you can access the individual products for whichever Breast Pump you are interested in.

If you are struggling with more than just finding the right breast pump, there is also a whole host of information on my Breast Pump Reviews site about how to breast pump successfully. Just click on the link to the right entitled, “Breast Pumping Help.”

Because resources about breast pumping are so difficult to find, I also have a page on the site devoted to breast pump educational materials which I entitled “Breast Pump Digest.” It took me a long time to learn how to breast pump successfully, and these resources helped a great deal.

On the “Articles” page, feel free to check out the breast pump manual that I highly recommend, “The Pumping Mom: Complete Breast Pump Manual” This book contains all the essentials to breast pumping that I learned in over 5000+ pumping sessions; it will benefit any woman who is breast pumping.

I hope you find this site valuable. Best of luck in your journey!

Sincerely,

Shauna

A Review Of The Playtex Embrace Breast Pump System

The Playtex Embrace Breast Pump System is marketed as an affordable and efficient alternative to higher priced breast pump systems such as the Medela. The Playtex Pump is designed to be as comfortable as possible while encouraging a fast let down.

The Playtex Pumps accomplish this a couple of ways:

1. It uses a soft nipple shield assembly that incorporates both massage and suction to more closely mimic a baby’s nursing patterns. This type of massage provides suction from the sides and not right on the nipple; this is incredibly effective at encouraging quick letdowns and makes it easier to pump a larger quantity of milk.
2. The nipple opening, which is larger on the Playtex Embrace Breast Pump System than on other breast pump systems, is designed to make the pumping experience as comfortable and efficient as possible.

Playtex Embrace Double Electric Breast Pump
If you are pumping full time, the Playtex Embrace Double Electric Breast Pump system may be the best choice for you. It allows you to pump on both sides at once. If you are working outside the home, a double pump is essential in order to maintain your milk supply and minimize pumping time.

The different levels of suction and the air cushions on the breast shields make the Playtex Embrace Breast Pump System line feel extremely comfortable. Women who have used this breast pump find that they are able to pump with much less nipple pulling and tugging as compared to other pumping systems.

One advantage to the Playtex Embrace Breast Pump System double pump is that you can use Playtex wide bottle systems as well as other, narrower style bottles. The adaptor is easy to use and makes the Playtex pump extremely versatile, which can be a huge benefit if a woman is shopping on a budget and needs to make the most of her baby budget.

There are a number of accessories that come with the Playtex Embrace Breast Pump System. This pump comes with a tote bag to carry the pump and accessories, a cold pack to help keep expressed milk at a safe temperature and a car adaptor that allows you to use the Playtex Pump when you are on the move. This makes it more convenient than other electric pumps that limit you to areas that have wall receptacles.

Playtex Embrace Manual Breast Pump
If you are an occasional pumper, you may want to try out the Playtex Embrace Manual Breast Pump. This is an easy to use manual pump that has the same comfortable breast shield design that the other Playtex Embrace Breast Pump System products utilize. It is also angled which makes the Playtex Embrace more comfortable to use. However, if you are doing more than just pumping occasionally, it is important to consider investing the extra money for a good electric pump such as the Playtex Embrace Double Electric Pump or the Ameda Purely Yours Pump. Choosing the correct pump to meet your needs will make all the difference in the world for your breast pumping experience.

The Bottom Line

If you are looking for an affordable and efficient alternative to other more expensive units, you should consider the Playtex Embrace Breast Pump System. The double pump is comfortable to use and has accessories that make pumping while on the go easy and straightforward.

If you are looking for a great pump that combines the ultimate in comfort with state of the art technology, the Playtex Pump line is definitely the pump for you. Click here to find the best price for the Playtex Embrace Breast Pump System.

Summary
The Playtex Embrace Breast Pump System is a great and affordable choice. Both the Double Electric Breast Pump and the Manual Pump use the same comfortable breast shield design that makes it easy for a woman to achieve let down. The Double Electric Breast Pump is better for women who are pumping daily and the Manual Pump will make it easy for occasional pumping when a woman is on the go.

Philips Avent Breast Pump

A Look At The Philips Avent Breast Pump System

A breast pump that is efficient AND comfortable is an invaluable asset to any mother who wants to pump her milk. In that regard, the Philips Avent breast pump line ranks at the top of the most popular breast pumps. This is because the Philips Avent breast pump line has a number of features that address both efficiency, ease of use, and comfort for the mother.

The Comfort Factor in the Philips Avent Breast Pump

The place where the breast sits within the breastshield of the Philips Avent breast pumps helps to make breast pumping more comfortable. Unlike other breast pumps that have a more rigid cup, the Philips Avent breast pump line is designed like a series of petals that recreate the sucking motion of a baby. This was a bonus because it helps with letdown and enables more milk to be expressed.

The alternating pressure generated by the pumps in the Philips Avent breast pump line are also gentler and less irritating than other pumps on the market. Women state that there is less nipple soreness than there is with other pumps.

What to Consider when Choosing a Philips Avent Breast Pump

When choosing the Philips Avent breast pump that is right for you, it is important to consider a few different factors such as:

1. How often you will be pumping.
2. Whether you want to pump from one breast or two.
3.  Whether you want the manual pump or the added freedom of a battery powered.

The type Philips Avent breast pump that you choose will depend upon such factors as how often you will pump, whether you are planning to pump at work or if you plan to travel with your pump.

Philips Avent: Double Breast Pump
I pumped with both of my daughters and found that the Philips Avent breast pump product line was an excellent choice. I used the Philips Avent double electric breast pump known as the Philips Avent Isis IQ Duo and found that this was a convenient way to express milk from both sides at once.

The Philips Avent Isis IQ Duo has a number of features common to all Philips Avent breast pump models that make pumping a pleasant and efficient exerience for women.. For instance, you are able to alter the pumping rhythm and then program it in to the pump, which makes the overall pumping experience much faster and more convenient. The fact that the Philips Avent breast pump system takes different pumping needs into account is a breath of fresh air when considering that women typically have different let down rates and prefer a range of different suction options.

Philips Avent: Single Electric
If you are pumping a lot of milk, you should invest in a double pump simply because it can express milk from both sides at once. In fact, if you are going to be breast pumping daily then a double breast pump is essential. However, if you are only pumping occasionally, want to save money and are looking for a pump that is smaller and more compact then the Phillips Avent Isis IQ Uno, Philips single electric breast pump, is a great choice.

Philips Avent: Manual Pump
If you are interested in a manual breast pump for occasional use,  the Avent Isis manual breast pump with 125 mL/4 oz breast milk container is a great choice. Just like Philips’ other breast pumps, the Philips Avent Isis Manual breast pump is easy to use and is as efficient as a manual pump can possibly be.

The Bottom Line
Overall, the Philips Avent breast pump line offers many excellent choices for nursing mothers. Whether you choose a manual Philips Avent breast pump or one that is powered by electricity, the Phillips Avent breast pump instructions are easy to use and any of the pumps in this line made it easy, convenient and comfortable to feed your baby.

Summary
The Philips Avent breast pump line is easy to use and comfortable for nursing mothers. The controls are easy to find and understand and the variable suction makes it easy to adjust to your comfort level. So, whether you need a simple, manual pump or a more sophisticated double pump, you will not be disappointed with a Philips Avent breast pump.

Lactina Breastpump

A Review of The Lactina Breastpump Line

Made by Medela, a long time leader in the breast pump manufacturing industry, the Lactina Breastpump is one of Medela’s high-end, hospital grade breast pumps. All pumps made by Medela are comfortable, efficient and easy to use; the Lactina Breastpump is no exception.

Medela Lactina Select Breastpump

The Medela Lactina Select Breastpump is one of Medela’s hospital grade double pumps, which means you can use it to express milk from both breasts at once. This dual pumping system makes the Lactina breastpump ideal for long term use. Because you are able to express milk on both sides simultaneously, the Lactina Breastpump will allow you to pump quickly so you can carry on with your daily routine.

The Lactina has a number of features that make it ideal for women who need the ability to express their milk quickly and comfortably.

  1. Efficient suction
  2. Comfortable breast shields.
  3. You can single or double pump.
  4. Good at increasing or maintaining your milk supply

Although the Lactina is a hospital grade pump and is efficient and quick at expressing milk, it does not contain Medela’s newest two phase expression technology. Because the Lactina breastpump is made with Medela’s old technology, the Medela Lactina Select Breastpump is not as comfortable or as efficient as Medela’s newer pumps: the Symphony and the Pump in Style Advanced.

Symphony Breast Pump

Medela’s newest hospital grade pump is the Symphony breast pump. Like the Lactina Breastpump, the Symphony features a dual pump system that allows you to empty both breasts at the same time. However, the Symphony is far more effective and comfortable than the Lactina.

If you are having great difficulty building a milk supply or need to produce more milk, the Symphony is far more superior than the Medela Lactina Select Breastpump. This is mainly due to the new two phase expression technology. This technology helps a mother in many ways:

  1. The sucking motion of this pump best mimics a baby’s nursing patterns which helps to encourage letdown.
  2. It is much more comfortable and easy on your breasts.
  3. Women are able to express more milk.
  4. Pumping times are drastically reduced.

The Pump In Style Breastpump

If you would like the 2 Phase expression technology that the Symphony offers (and that the Lactina Breastpump does not offer), but are not prepared to spend the money for a high-end hospital grade pump such as the Symphony, then you may want to consider the Pump in Style Advanced breast pump. At a fraction of the cost, the Pump in Style Advanced offers the same kind of technology as the Symphony.

Women find that the Pump in Style Advanced is highly efficient, comfortable, portable and easy to use. This pump features a carry bag that is available in either a shoulder bag or backpack. This bag makes it easier to transport your pump and accessories. For many reasons, the Pump in Style Advanced is Medela’s most popular pump; although it is not a hospital grade pump, it comes with all the same features and benefits.

The Bottom Line

There is a very good reason why so many women swear by the Lactina Breastpump and other Medela pumps. However, the Lactina does not come with the 2 Phase Expression technology that helps increase milk output and decrease pumping time. For this reason, you might want to consider either the Symphony or the Pump in Style Advanced over the Lactina Breastpump.

Summary

The Lactina Breastpump is a hospital grade pump that can help drain a woman’s breasts of milk completely. It has a high quality motor and a dual pump format that allows you to pump both sides at once. Other excellent options include the Symphony breast pump and the Pump In Style Advanced breast pump that make expressing milk comfortable and convenient.

Electronic Breast Pump

An Electronic Breast Pump: What to Look For When Choosing

An electronic breast pump can be just what a woman needs to express her breast milk quickly and comfortably. Unlike a manual breast pump, an electronic breast pump does not rely on the pumping action provided by working a lever or handle. Instead, it uses an electronic motor to generate the suction that expresses the milk from your breast. This can make it much easier to express milk in a very short period of time which can help you to reduce the amount of time you will be spending pumping your milk. Examples of an electronic breast pump include the and the Nuk electric breastpump.

It is important to keep in mind though that each woman will typically have a different experience when using an electronic breast pump. If you have larger breasts, for example, you may find that some pumps that may be comfortable for smaller women may cause you discomfort or make it difficult for you to express milk quickly and easily. Therefore it can be helpful for you to understand the different models on the market so that you can choose the best electric breast pump for you.

Features to Look For

Some of the features that you should look for in an electronic breast pump include:
Soft breast shields that do not pull or pinch your nipples. This can damage your nipples and cause you problems if you are pumping frequently

  • An electronic breast pump that is easy to transport. This is important if you will be travelling with your pump (this may be particularly important for women who commute and choose to pump at work)
  • More than one level of speed and suction. This allows you to customize your pump’s performance and it can make it more comfortable for you to pump
  • Storage systems that include a cold pack so that you can keep your expressed milk at a safe temperature if you are pumping away from home

Electric breast pumps come in all different sizes and shapes and range in price from as low as $50 up to $350. If you are looking for an electronic breast pump then you probably need to pump often. If this is the case, you should certainly consider a double electric breast pump over a single electric breast pump because pumping both breasts simultaneously will save so much time. Although their are many double electric breast pumps available, not all are efficient, comfortable, and easy to use. For instance, the models such as Avent electric breast pump and the Evenflo electric breast pump do not get nearly as good reviews as the breast pumps made by Medela and Ameda. Following are the top three most popular and efficient electric breast pumps on the market today.

The Pump In Style Advanced

The Pump In Style Advanced is one of the best electronic breast pump models on the market today. It is extremely popular with many women as it is comfortable and easy to use. It is a dual electronic breast pump that has a two phase suction cycle. This pump does a great job mimicking the sucking patterns of a nursing baby, something that can help assist with letdown.

This breast pump is durable enough to be used multiple times each day, something which a less well-made electronic pump may be unable to handle. The pump comes in a bag complete with accessories that make pumping on the go safe, comfortable and discreat.

The Medela Freestyle

If you are a woman who needs to multi task, you may want to try the Medela Freestyle. This is the best hands free electronic breast pump on the market today. Like the Pump In Style, the Freestyle has a two-phase suction cycle and comfortable, soft breast shields. It is an extremely efficient, portable, and easy to use breast pump. This pump fits in the palm of your hand and is packaged in a bag that makes it easy to take it with you when you head out the door for the day.

The Ameda Purely Yours

This electronic breast pump also has a great reputation and deservedly so. Like the Freestyle and the Pump In Style, it is a dual pump, meaning that a woman can pump on both sides at the same time in order to shorten her pumping time. It has 32 different settings that can allow you to choose the precise level of pumping force that is comfortable for you.
It offers pumping women the option of using the three different sizes of nipple flanges to create a more precise fit on the breast. This can help to increase your comfort and milk production while minimizing the chances you have of damaging your nipples. The Purely Yours electronic breast pump also offers you the ability to use the manual pump handle in order to express milk if your power supply has been interrupted.

Conclusion

An electronic breast pump uses batteries or a wall adaptor to provide you with the suction that expresses breast milk. Women need to look for comfort, portability and dependability in the breast pump that they are going to purchase. The Pump in Style, Medela Freestyle and Ameda Purely Yours are three models of electronic breast pumps that are comfortable, efficient and durable enough to use for daily pumping needs. Regardless of which electronic breast pump you ultimately choose, knowing that you have a reliable method of expressing milk for your baby can be a huge relief. Only you will be able to tell which pump has the features and benefits you find most important.

Why Electric?

Many women choose to use electric breast pumps; these breast pumps are even recommended by lactation specialists and hospitals. This is why it is considered to be extremely useful in helping to build and maintain a full milk supply.

Medela’s other popular electric breast pump model, the Medela Freestyle, is also great choice, particularly for moms on the go. This pump uses the same advanced technology to extract the milk and is also highly efficient.
